The Artist may have won big last night but the actresses shined brighter than any statue by their own, dazzling with magnificent and fantastic collections of pure magical fashion. White was a big trend with A-listers like Rooney Mara wearing an structured yet ethereal Givenchy gown and Gwyneth Paltrow in a Tom Ford men’s perfect sartorially inspired ensemble with the most incredible cape, choosing this celestial hue. Bold colors made a statement too with Michelle Williams wearing an stunning coral Louis Vuitton dress with an strapless bustier, ultra feminine ruffles and an edgy peplum that was astonishingly paired with a flirty and ultra luxurious little jeweled bow, pure exquisite luxury, simply the best.
Black was big as well, Angelina Jolie looked perfect as usual with this classic color in an Atelier Versace incredibly sexy gown with an open leg that was the talk of the show and the always stylish and Jessica Chastain has never looked better with and exquisitely embroidered Alexander McQueen gown. Pure visual delight. A special mention to “The Meryl” who did not only won her third Academy Award for a brilliant performance but went for an appropriately golden Lanvin magnificent creation. The best of the night were definitely these beautiful ladies who wowed us during this exciting award season, they seem to never get it wrong. Bravo ladies.
Set in the old London circa 1550-1604 within the political atmosphere of the Elizabethan court, the film questions Shakespeare’s credibility, claiming that Lord Oxford is the real master-mind behind the famous Shakespeare’s plays. With the succession of Queen Elizabeth and the Essex Rebellion against her as part of a magnificent Shakespeare/Lord-Oxford worthy story, this film has incredibly powerful performances and mind blowing visual achievements that are a delight to our eyes and imagination.
With the magnificent Academy Award – Emmy, BAFTA, Golden Globe, SAG… and every possible award – winner Vanessa Redgrave as the Queen Elizabeth and an outstanding cast this film’s dark and smoky atmosphere set a perfect tone for all the court intrigue that develops in the most fantastic visual scenario we could possibly dream of. The dresses are definitely worthy of the most powerful queen and her posh court, with special attention to little crafty and luxurious details, like hundreds of little buttons for just one dress and the most exquisite embroideries and laces in incredibly expensive and luxurious dresses that would make Lady Gaga herself ache of pleasure. The richness of textures and shapes are pure perfection. Whether historically accurate or not, this film becomes an interesting showcase of a theory that makes us think so we could get our very own conclusions, and no matter what the personal believes are towards the subject, the Academy Award nominee costume by German Costume Designer Lisy Christl, makes it all worth seeing. A visual pleasure of pure royal decadence.

I can not get over how good Meryl Streep looked on the 82nd Academy Awards celebration. She looked so stylish, elegant, fresh and chic with that white jersey dress by Chris March.
Less is more, that was the big statement of the big night. With Nude Lips, and very natural make-up, perfectly contrasted with accentuated lips, the Hollywood starlets never looked chic. Up Does and hairs down with loose finger waves were the A-Lister’s favorites that accentuated their glamour.
Rosy cheeks and lips, fluttery lashes, pale pink blush, shimmery lipcolor, defined brows, bright lips were the big trends that made them shine like the stars that they are. Look at Charlize Theron’s red lips with a perfect hair do and ethereal and natural looking make up for the rest of her face, just flawless. Or Nicole Richie, with Cleopatra’s strong eyes and 60s hair that were so dramatic and edgy but perfectly balanced with a natural lip color and just a hint of blush. Sleek and polished… Get inspired.
The always stylish and Oscar nominee herself Ann Hathaway presented the nominations for the 82nd Academy Awards this morning. With a surprisingly list of the nominees for best picture that included 10 movies for the first time in the Oscars History, the biggest event of the year is looking, well… Bigger than ever. Here is the list of nominees:
Nude Lips, Maquillaje muy natural, Up Does, bangs, melenas desenfadadas, look playero, ojos dramáticos, malvas, amarillos, dorados, rosas, rojos y colores muy veraniegos… Estas fueron las tendencias en los Oscar. ¿Te animas?
“A-listers” — Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet y Sean Penn entre otros — se vistieron de negro para la ocasión, pero colores claros, metálicos, tonos joya, vestidos asimétricos, strapless, de un solo hombro, las aplicaciones los bordados, las piedras y los statements encabezaron la amplia gama de tendencias.
La “Diosa Angelina Jolie” se veía simplemente increíble con un estilo clásico y casi retro. Tenía un vestido negro de Elie Saab, de corte griego, con un corpiño y drapeado que se soltaba en la cintura para una falda hasta el piso que marcaban su increíble cuerpo. Estuvo perfectamente acompañado con aretes en forma de gota de Esmeralda.
Winslet también se fue por un color oscuro y sofisticado en un vestido de satín gris y tul negro de Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati. Se veía muy hermosa con un look muy “Avant Garde”, diferente al que nos tiene acostumbrados pero que definitivamente supo llevar. Estuvo “flawless”, todo era correcto, desde su pelo perfectamente peinado hacia atrás con un look futurista-Retro hasta su escogencia de joyas.
Anne Hathaway brilló con un vestido strapless color champagne de Armani Prive cubierto con una de las mayores tendencias de la noche: cristales y pailettes circulares y un broche dragón en la espalda. Estuvo perfecta, fue sin duda una de las mejor vestidas de la noche. Luciendo también espectacular, Evan Rachel Wood llevaba un vestido color marfil de Elie Saab Haute Couture, que se le ajustaba como un guante. Lo mismo no se puede decir de Jessica Biel, quien siempre luce Hermosa en la alfombra roja decició ir con un vestido columna strapless en satín blanco con un moño adelante que se veía super floppy y que iba acompañado con unos zapatos negros que parecen sacados de su prom.
La temporada de premios llegó a su punto más alto. Con la finalización de la misma y la noche más importante y glamurosa del cine. La academia nos sorprendió con un espectáculo tipo Brodway de magnificas proporciones, donde hugh Jackman nos deleitaba con divertidos y sorprendentes números musicales en los que espectadores como Anne Hathaway participaban del mismo. Jackman abrió el show con una melodía de canciones que le rendian tributo a los nominados como mejor película. Para después unirse a Beyoncé, Zac Efforn y Vanesa Hudgens – de High School Musical -, y Amanda Seyfred y Dominic Cooper – de Mamma Mia! – para rendirle un tributo a los mejores y más amados musicales de Hollywood. Además, por primera vez en la historia de los premios, los galardones fueron entregados por anteriores ganadores de la misma categoría, lo que se convirtió en momentos muy emotivos que se sentían más personales que de costumbre.

En cuanto a los premios, no hubo ninguna sorpresa, todo llegaba como se esperaba, un premio tras el otro. En algún momento tuve la esperanza de que Milk iba a ser la gran sorpresa de la noche, llevándose la estatuilla como mejor película, pero este premio se lo llevó la también increíble Slumdog Millionaire, que fue sin duda la gran ganadora de la noche, con 8 estatuillas que incluían el premio a mejor director – Danny Boyle -, cinematografía, mejor banda sonora (la cual es Fenómenal), mejor canción (Jai Ho) – A.R. Rahman -, guion adaptado, sound mixing y edición. Sin embargo, es mejor que las cosas salgan como se esperaba y no tener ninguna sorpresa desagradable. Ya que fue emocionante ver como Milk se llevó dos estatuillas esa noche. En uno de los discursos más emotivos de la noche, el guinista Dustin Lance Black, quien ganó el premio por mejor guion original por Milk, dijo: “Escuché la historia de Harvey Milk y me dio esperanza… que algún día podría vivir mi vida abiertamente como soy. Y que de pronto podría incluso enamorarme y eventualmente casarme”.
Sus pensamientos ganaron eco, con el triunfo de Sean Penn por su interpretación del activista de los derechos gay Harvey Milk. “Ustedes comunistas, homo-amantes, hijos de su madre” dijo Penn. “No lo esperaba, y quiero ser muy claro que sé que tan difícil lo hago para que se me aprecie”. En una apasionada petición – y calurosos aplausos- Penn pidió por “igualdad de derechos para todos. Creo que es un buen momento para que aquellos que votaron en contra del matrimonio gay se sienten y reflexionen y anticipen su gran vergüenza”. Este fue uno de los mejores momentos de la noche, con Mickey Rourke como principal contendiente y con las mismas probabilidades de ganar, no puedo evitar expresar mi gran alegría al ver a Penn llevarse esta estatuilla, y la emoción compartida que reflejaba Dustin Lance cuando el actor de 48 años estaba en el escenario.
