Balenciaga’s Very Masculine Season

Fall/Winter 2012-13

Balenciaga’s menswear line finally gets its own ad campaign. Eight years after launching Balenciaga men’s wear, Nicolas Ghesquière is giving it a stronger and more unique voice, with the house’s own created imagery. The debut campaign for the fall collection, unveiled earlier this week on balenciaga.com and will break in the September issues of magazines from around the world including L’Uomo Vogue, Vogue Homme Japan and Arena Homme Plus. Josh Olins photographed model Marton Dorfler for the men’s spots while Steven Meisel photographed the women’s ad campaign. Which with an army of incredibly lucky young models is very Balenciaga. With the brand’s usual screen divided photos showcasing the signature Balenciaga opulent avant-guard shapes and fabrics in the luscious Fall designs, set in an unexpected Kanzas/Wizard Of Oz background it is a fashion fantasy… What a dream.
