Men’s Spring/Summer 2013

Tisci’s innovative and delightful prints took a celestial and divine intervention, when religious iconography invaded the runway in the most beautiful and stylish way possible. A heavenly richness for the spring/summer 2013 of Givenchy

The incense and organ music that foreshadowed the show, gave us a clear sense of what was coming, a splendid and spiritual collection full of glorious pieces that would definitely convert anyone, as the catholic religion has always looked luxurious, but never this trendy.

A classic black suit with a magnificent sartorial that opened the show took a priestly twist with a tunic dangled underneath it; a priestly fixation that was seen throughout the entire collection but took a sportier vibe with sweatshirts, polos, T-shirts and baseball jackets later in the show, but in insanely luxurious and rich fabrics and shapes, giving it hints of superb elegance. But that Tisci edge did not stop there, as the prints were as brilliant, sumptuous and splendid as always, becoming the highlight of the show that many are going to die for next season.

Pale pinks, black and white in duchess satin and organza, took delicious shapes inspired by the Bauhaus movement. The tailoring was bold and linear, with triangles of fabric inset into lapels and shirt collars.

It was a sinfully luxurious collection with a halo of cleverness and boldness, in sporty jerseys with female religious icons instead of player numbers, prints airbrushed over multiple garments – including shirts and ties that shifted as the models walked -. That were perfectly complemented with hardcore nose jewelry and studded sandals, that gave the show a feeling of obscurantism that was somehow delicious.  What a great and refreshing collection for men… AMEN!
